::: "Summer at Dog Dave's" becomes "The Summer of Monte Wildhorn."

Rob Reiner's latest project, which is being sold to international territories at AFM and will also soon screen for U.S. distributors, has a new title: The Summer of Monte Wildhorn.

It was previously known as Summer at Dog Dave's after originally being known as The Third Act. The new title is a reference to the character played by Morgan Freeman who stars in the movie with Virginia Madsen and Madeline Carroll.

The story focuses on a once famous, wheelchair-bound writer of Western novels (Freeman) who tries to rediscover his talent in a rural town after years of alcoholism. In the process, he becomes involved in the lives of three daughters and their mother, who is going through a divorce.

Madeline Carroll is not your typical teen. At 15, the actress has already worked alongside a handful of Hollywood leading men including Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman and Gerard Butler, who plays her father in the upcoming film Machine Gun Preacher (due out September 23). The LA native—a self-described “girly girl” who is into fashion, loves the beach and counts Daniel Day Lewis and Will Smith as dream co-stars—shares with us what it is like to be a teen in Hollywood. How did you get started in acting? MADELINE CARROLL: I started modeling for toy [brands] at three-and-a-half, which led to acting. I was in the nail salon one day with my aunt and an agent who was in there gave us her card. She’s been my agent ever since. Gerard Butler is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. What was it like working with him? MC: Well, my friends were pretty jealous and my brothers were excited because they loved 300. He’s such a cool guy. Even though he plays my dad in the movie he’s like an older brother. He’s just so fun and has a big personality and is always joking. He doesn’t have a big head at all. You also star alongside screen legend Morgan Freeman in Summer At Dog Dave’s, which is directed by Rob Reiner. Was that intimating? MC: I was a little intimated working with him. I was really nervous, but when you meet him he’s just so cool. He’s a sort of a grandfather type and you’re just drawn to him. He gave me advice and said, “Always stay nice and be courteous.” Morgan Freeman is the nicest person ever. What did you love about growing up in LA? MC: I love that we have every option here, from Disneyland to the beach. You know, when I’m not in school I mostly hang out with my brothers [one older, two younger], go swimming. I love the beach and water activities. Where do you see yourself in five years? MC: I definitely want to go to college. In five years I hope I’m still acting. I want to keep pursuing this because I really enjoy it. Hopefully one day I’ll be the next Morgan Freeman.

::: The poster for one of the most anticipated movies of the year has just hit the internet over at IMDb. Machine Gun Preacher is directed by Marc Forster (The Kite Runner, Quantum Of Solace) and stars Gerard Butler as an ex-drug dealing biker who, after finding God, travels to Sudan and becomes a freedom fighter, rescuing Sudanese child soldiers and hunting their captors. Co-starring along with Butler are Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon, Kathy Baker and our very own Madeline as Gerard Butler's daughter. The film is based on a true story and is currently generating a lot of Oscar buzz. Cool huh? Machine Gun Preacher hits selected cinemas on the 23rd of September.

A trailer for the film will be released this friday so make sure to come and check it out on this site!

::: Machine Gun Preacher will have its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, September 8-18. The schedule will be announced at the end of August. Click here to find out more.

Directed and produced by DGA and Golden Globe®-nominee Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster’s Ball) and written by Jason Keller (Relativity’s Untitled Snow White Project), the film stars Gerard Butler (300) in a tour de force performance and will release in Los Angeles and New York on September 23, 2011. The film will expand markets in the weeks to follow. Lionsgate has international distribution rights, working in partnership with Relativity who has North American rights to theatrically market and distribute the film.

MC: “This little pink dress that I wore it to the AARP awards. It was tight at the top but then it poofed out a lot. It reminded me of cotton candy.” What are your go-to summer accessories? MC: “I like flip-flops and gladiator sandals because you can match them with so many different things—dresses, shorts.” What are the beauty essentials that you always have with you on the red carpet? MC: “Lip gloss. I think every girl needs lip gloss. It makes you look so nice. I also love BADgal Lash by Benefit. It’s a really good mascara.” It’s beach season! TFK: Were you a fan of the book before you did the movie? MADELINE CARROLL: I read the original story when I was in the fourth grade, and I loved it. I thought it was such a great book. When they sent me the script for the movie, I was so excited. TFK: How would you describe Janie's personality? MADELINE: She's sort of like every teenage girl. She doesn't get a lot of attention from her dad because he's so focused on work; they don't have a good relationship. [She pretends like it doesn't bother her,] but she wants to be close to her dad. She wants her little brother to be close to their dad too. TFK: Is Jim Carrey as funny in real life as he is on camera? MADELINE: Yes, he's always on. One day when we were filming on the sound stages, we came in and he was spray painting the wall. He wrote something, and everyone was trying to guess what it meant. No one ever found out! ::: Fox is moving the premiere for Maddy's upcoming Jim Carrey comedy "Mr. Popper's Penguins" up from August 12 to June 17. And "Machine Gun Preacher" will get a theatrical release somewhere in September. So just a few more months before we get to see Mads in two major feature films! Exciting huh, make sure to mark your calendars!
